The Foothill College Football team dropped their final game of the season, falling 42-24 to a highly motivated non-conference opponent in Modesto Junior College.
It was a disappointing result after Foothill was going stride for stride with Modesto throughout the game, helped by Jayden Macedo’s best statline of the season with 18 competitions on 25 attempts for 232 yards and a touchdown. Ultimately, two ill timed turnovers early in the fourth quarter that Modesto capitalized on ended up being the difference between the two sides.
Halftime added a positive note to the day, as the Foothill Dance Team made their return after a 6 year hiatus with a halftime performance. Led by Coach Jamie Tonn, the team is looking to expand their presence on campus and continue to perform all around Foothill. Keep up with them and their upcoming performances via their Instagram!
The Owls had a plethora of players recognized in the Bay 6 All Conference teams, with OT Henry Fanua (unanimous), WR Andre Jackson, QB Jayden Macedo, RB Jordan Fuentes, OT Sione Reed, and WR/KR/PR Johnnie Barbie being recognized on offense. Defensively, Foothill also shined, with DE Joshua Shanklin (unanimous), LB Faapaia Fualema (unanimous), LB Epoki Fakaosi, DB Willie Clifton Jr., and DE Douglas Adams III getting nods.
Despite the loss vs. Modesto, the Owls still qualified for the Gridiron Classic Bowl, and are set for a duel at the #5 ranked team in the state in Butte College (9-1). It’s a big chance for the Owls to put a big exclamation point on the season with an underdog win vs. a ranked opponent.
