The Honors Connection Club was started back in Winter 2015. This club’s aim is to connect honors and non-honors students to build a community based on growth and friendship. You can tell that the part about friendship is true: everyone in the club seemed to be there to hang out with each other, more than to fulfill a duty or to get a nice addition to their college application.

When asked what they liked about the club, Elia Riou didn’t hesitate: “I’ve gotten to realize that there’s actually a lot of leaderships opportunities, and I didn’t know about them until I joined this club.”. Daisy Rosales, the club’s current president, was quick to add that they also have leadership opportunities within the club itself: they have official positions available to anyone who’d like to run for them, such as the Secretary or Vice President. Pavinit Setti, another member, let me know that they “have a weekly newsletter that updates about everything that goes on in school”, which she and the rest of the club found really useful, and Chris Volar mentioned that he liked “that we’re building a platform where we can connect with each other, but also to try to achieve new levels of academic and social work.”.

During the meeting, some really cool projects came up: they mentioned some volunteer opportunities, a What the Health screening they’ll be co-hosting with the Social Justice Project on May 31st, the first ever Owl Talks (date TBA) and some bonding events, such as a bowling night in June and a river rafting trip planned for the end of the quarter.

If you’re interested in joining the Honors Connection Club, they meet every Wednesday from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm in Room 3307. To keep updated on the club and the events they’re organizing, visit their website and join their mailing list. You can also find them on Facebook and Instagram.
