Tips For the Spring Quarter

The quarter system can be very fast paced and hard to keep up with. At the beginning of each quarter you get hit with new classes, new professors, and a new schedule. It can be overwhelming. Here are a few tips help you maintain a happy self this quarter:

Prioritize Yourself

You come first, ahead of everything. Get enough sleep, eat and drink water. You need to take care of yourself — not just so you can succeed in your classes, but also so you can survive your day-to-day life. Self care is very important —  it should serve as an everyday reminder that you are the most important piece in your life.

Destress

When things get too overwhelming, take the time to destress through relaxing activities. Meditate or do yoga. Or if you prefer, you can write, chill with friends, or just lay on your bed and binge watch Netflix. Just remember to take the time to relax and enjoy just being.

Ask for help

You don’t have to face the quarter alone. There are facilities on campus that can aid you in schoolwork such as tutoring in the Teaching and Learning Center and the STEM center, as well as assistance from your professors during office hours. Psychological services can even help you with personal issues. Ask for help from friends and family. College is a journey. Sometimes, you need people around to cheer you on to continue running, and that is always okay.

Cut Out the Negativity

Cut out people or things that bring negativity into your life. It can be hard, but if something hurts you more than brings you joy, you need to cut it out of your life.

You can do it!

Remind yourself that you’ve got this, because you do! You need to be your own fan. Even when you mess up, compassionately bring yourself back onto the right track.

Good luck on your spring quarter!
