Jewish Heritage Month Closing Ceremony: Tu Bishvat Tree Planting
Foothill College held a tree planting ceremony on Jan 31. to close Jewish Heritage Month and celebrate the Jewish holiday of Tu Bishvat, or the New Year of Trees. The holiday is as an ecological and environmental awareness celebration, and trees are planted by Jewish communities to participate. Foothill College community members were invited to come support the Jewish diaspora, watch the oak tree planting ceremony, and take part in the process. After the exhausting tree planting finished under the hot sun, guests were offered traditional dried fruits and nuts to refresh themselves.
